The Zungu-Elgin team consists of more than 200 employees who work to ensure client requirements are met within the prescribed period and within budget. Our skilled and experienced Engineers, Supervisors and Craftsmen enable us to rapidly mobilise resources in order to adhere to customer requirements worldwide. Quite a number of our employees began their careers as Apprentices and have grown into skilled Craftsmen who take pride in their work and their status as Elgin-trained Artisans.

Mr Zungu is the founder and executive chairman of Zungu Investments Co., an investment company with diversified interests in manufacturing and services.
Mr Zungu currently serves as a non-executive director of inter-alia Grindrod Limited, and Novus Holdings and non-executive Chairman of EOH Holdings, all listed on the JSE Securities Exchange.
He is a member of the BRICS Business Council and also serves on the BBBEE Presidential Advisory Council.
Mr Zungu is also Chairman of the UCT Graduate School of Business advisory board.
Mr Zungu completed a BSc (Mechanical Engineering) degree at the University of Cape Town (UCT), a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at the UCT Graduate School of Business and a Program for Global Leadership certificate at the Harvard Business School in Boston, USA.

Ms Jakavula is a qualified Chartered Accountant, and completed her articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
She holds a BCom degree and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting, both from the University of Cape Town.
Prior to joining Zungu Investments Co., she was with the Sanlam Group for 8 years in various roles, mainly at Sanlam Private Equity and Sanlam Investment Management.
Mr Kanakana is a Non-Executive Director of Zungu-Elgin and a Senior Strategic Human Capital Business Partner at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).Read more about Theo Kanakana
He holds a BAdmin degree in Human Resources Management at the University of Venda; BA (Hons) in Industrial & Organisational Psychology at WITS University; Masters in Industrial & Organisational Psychology “Coursework” at UNISA, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK.
His professional accreditation includes: Certified Talent Economist; Certified Change Management Practitioner (ADKAR); Certified Enneagram Coach; Certified Organisational Culture Practitioner (Barret Institute) level I and II.
Prior to joining the IDC, he was with the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) for 5 years mainly as the Head of department of Talent and Performance Management, and served in a number of Human Resources Committees and Chairs numerous Talent Management Committees and Forums.
His experience covers a wide range of skills which include Organisational Development, Psychological Assessments, Change Management, Talent and Performance Management, Employee Relations, Policies and Strategy formulation and many more.
Ms Fakudze is a seasoned deal maker who started her career at ABSA business bank in 2005.Read more about Nomfundo Fakudze
Her experience spans over 12 years in private equity, corporate finance and venture capital. She has gained this experience at ABSA Business Bank, Investec Private Wealth, The National Empowerment Fund and the Public Investment Corporation: Isibaya Private Equity Fund. She sits on various investee boards across different sectors. Nomfundo has a background in Economics and has recently completed a Master’s in Business Administration with the Gordon Institute of Business Science.

Mr Chetty has held various positions including: CNC Operator, CNC Programmer, CAD/CAM drafting, Works Manager Eltech and two years as Division Manager.
He holds a degree from Sastri College and an NTC 2 Certificate for Fitting and Machining.
Mr Chetty is also a director of Minco and represents the Elgin BEE management consortium.
Chief Financial Officer
Ms Nonkululeko Shezi is a bona fide Durbanite, who is passionate about uplifting others.Read more about Nonkululeko Shezi
She has recently been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of Zungu-Elgin Engineering (Pty) Ltd. She is part of the task team that will turn this business around after it survived business rescue in 2015. Her academic skills as well qualities of resilience, perseverance, leadership, intellectual abilities and amicable personality, enable her to introduce novel ways of working in any environment she is placed under.
After completing her articles in 2007 at Deloitte, she relocated to Pretoria to join one of Transnet’s divisions, Transnet Rail Engineering, as a Management Accountant.
In May 2009, she moved back to KZN to join the Sugar division within the group of Tongaat Hulett, as a Business Analyst, where she was very instrumental in improving internal controls and talent development. In May 2013, she then moved back to Gauteng, to join L’oreal Manufacturing where she worked as a Plant Chief Financial Officer, where she got an opportunity to be trained at Head Office in Clichy, Paris. Again, at L’Oréal she was faced with improving internal controls and drove the cost saving initiatives to drive competitiveness.
In December 2014, she moved back to Durban to join Unilever as a Risk & Audit Manager looking after Sub-Saharan Africa. She has travelled extensively into the African countries, coaching teams and reshaping the Internal Audit agenda.
A year later she then worked as a Finance Manager looking after Category accounts. In this role she managed assets of c.a. R2.5bn by business partnering the Marketing and Customer directors in strategic decisions and tracking the total financial performance and reporting of the category. This was her last role at Unilever before leaving the business in May 2017.
She was also the Diversity & Inclusion Lead for the Unilever Finance Team in SA, and has assisted the function to come up with programmes that drive this agenda. She has assisted Transnet Pipelines with their “Women in Pipelines” programme in Durban.
Ms Shezi is passionate about coaching and development of others, hence she serves on the Board of the African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA), an NPO looking after identifying talent at school level to nurture them to CAs. She is also very involved in her community in KZN where she mentors youth.
She is currently pursuing her Diploma in Bible Studies at the Heritage of Faith Bible Institute.
When Ms Shezi has leisure time, she enjoys reading, watching movies and dining.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr Sheik is the Chief Operations Officer of Zungu-Elgin Engineering (Pty) Ltd and the Director of Zungu Piping (Pty) Ltd.Read more about Zain Sheik
Mr Sheik is a Mechanical Engineer, with Masters Certification in Project Management from the University of George Washington. He is also an Associate Member of the South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering.
Mr Sheik has 25 years of engineering and construction experience through working with global leaders in both the Petrochemical and Project Execution industries. He has worked for Engen, Hatch, and Transnet.
His broad experience spans many disciplines in the Engineering and Construction fields. He is well versed in, Engineering design, Procurement, Construction Management, Project Commissioning, Contracts Management of multi-disciplined mega projects. He also has extensive experience in Rotating Equipment, Condition monitoring and Equipment health management, Static equipment, Above ground petroleum storage tanks, petrochemical piping and structural steel, electrical and instrumentation and civil disciplines.
Mr Sheik has presented technical papers abroad for the petrochemical industry in Malaysia and Hungary on Equipment Health Management and Shutdowns and Turnaround Management.

He has twenty-six years of experience (nineteen in senior management positions) which he gained from working in different industries, mostly in the petroleum industry. His core functions included Production/Operations, Projects, Business Management (and Development), Supply Chain and Logistics Management. He has been with Zungu-Elgin since October 2016.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Cape Town, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, Graduate School of Business in the UK; a Diploma in Production Management, from IPMSA; and a Certificate in Project Management Professional preparation course from the Project Academy.
Mr Nkosi is a dedicated, hands-on and results-driven senior executive with a highly successful background in the achievement of profitable business growth through the creation and execution of various business strategies.
(Petrochemicals, Fabrication, Services and Maintenance)
Mr Naidoo joined Elgin in 1986 and has worked his way through the Company to be appointed as the Head of Petrochemical (Fabrication) in 2014.Read more about Julius Naidoo
Mr. Naidoo started as a Mechanical Draftsman and after 29 years at Elgin, he has progressed into the position he's in today.
He has a number of qualifications including a National Technical Certificate (Part V), UNISA Programme in Business Management and has attended the Murray & Roberts Management Development Course.
(Mechanical and Foundry)
Mr Reddy joined Elgin in 1990 and has worked his way through the Company to be appointed as the Head of Sugar (Mechanical and Foundry) in 2008.Read more about Mervin Reddy
Mr Reddy's entire working career has been with Elgin, which has lasted over 25 years, 7 years of which have been the Head of Sugar.
Mr Reddy was born in Durban in 1969 and matriculated from Clairwood Secondary Technical School in 1987. Mr. Reddy has since attained a number of qualifications, including a national diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Springfield Technical College, a national higher diploma from the Durban University of Technology, a certificate in business management from the University of Witwatersrand and has attended the Deloitte management development programme.
Mr. Reddy is also a member of the South African Institute of Mechanical Engineering.
